MITRE’s Naval Division is focused on delivering innovative concepts, technologies and methodologies that enable current and future Naval superiority. Our Naval work program has a broad and dynamic set of projects that focus on research engineering, systems engineering, agile acquisition, cyber security, experimentation, prototyping. We are seeking innovative and energetic engineers, technologists and domain experts to join our talented team in delivering valuable products and capabilities that have high impact on the Navy and our National Security.


The successful candidate for this role will lead integration and automation of predictive analytics to aid tactical decision making for maritime command and control.  The successful candidate will leverage agile/devOps software delivery methodologies and employ the following key competencies:

  • Agile: Lead daily scrums, sprint planning, and day-to-day team activities for a distributed team.
  • devOps: Mature devOps pipeline to automate and deliver capabilities to transition partners and develop automation scripts to automate capabilities and overcome bottlenecks.
  • Integration and Support:  Integrate new COTS/GOTS capabilities into the baseline. Work with developers to capture installation and verification steps for automation. Support developers during initial integration activities on various clusters at multiple classification levels.
  • Configuration Management:  Maintain and mature CM processes for development teams and support a continuous integration model.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: Computer or Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Data Analytics, or similar fields and 8 years related experience
  • Possess the ability to define projects or programs greater than themselves
  • Responsible for work and/or customer relationship development and will acts according to—and guides others toward—the proper balance of a) product depth with timeliness and b) technical improvements with programmatic constraints, even when hard compromises are required
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances 

Required Qualifications:

  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI level security clearance
  • Our group seeks talented individuals with domain knowledge and analytical background drawn from one or more of the following areas:

o   Agile software development and software engineering

o   Systems Engineering

o   Demonstrated experience in performing impactful analytical work

o   Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and impactful (oral and written)

o   Ability to work in a collaborative fashion with software developers and Navy program managers, in a culture that values strong technical achievers, collaborative work style and continuous learning


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognized by senior management as a thought leader
  • Substantial domain experience working with the Navy command and control processes, such as Undersea Warfare and force protection
  • Self-starter and excellent time management skills
  • Experience with deployment automation tools (Jenkins, Nexus, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, etc.) in different deployment environments (Linux, virtualization, AWS)
  • Experience with configuration management suits and build automation (Git, Jenkins, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, etc.)
  • Familiarity with automated testing capabilities (Robots, Sikuli, Selenium, Gherkin, Cucumber, etc.)
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software systems (Java, Hadoop, Storm, Accumulo)
