MITRE is seeking a hands-on Sr. FHIR Developer with domain experience in healthcare information management with an emphasis on electronic health records, and domain experience in healthcare organization information sharing, healthcare information and vocabulary standards, healthcare architectures, and health information exchange.

The Sr. Software Developer (HL7/FHIR) position is responsible for developing open-source software  prototypes to integrate systems and solve healthcare problems. Persons filling this position will demonstrate passion for technology and developing health solutions. They will do so by strongly adhering to coding standards in an agile environment, and undergoing detailed code reviews to ensure delivery of the highest quality customized solutions, contributing to the successful accomplishment of the primary mission.

Key Functions:

• Support government sponsor programs that encourage adoption of national health data exchange standards by creating prototypes, demonstrations, and test systems.
• Work with standards organizations such as HL7 to develop and refine health information standards.
• Help develop standards and architectures for clinical quality measure and clinical decision support.
• Help formulate the vision and implementation of computable medical records.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate demonstrates an ability to apply advanced principles, theories and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Master's degree in a relevant field of study. Candidate understands health, healthcare, and FHIR, and is fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span. In addition, candidate is able to define projects or programs greater than themselves.

The ideal candidate:
• has a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent industry 

  experience plus at least 3 years of experience in real-world software

• lives and breathes full stack web development using open-source

  development and tools, can discuss the pros and cons of various web

  application toolkits
• writes quality code: source control, testing, and clear documentation are

  all musts
•  hands-on experience with Java, Ruby, Go, or JavaScript 
•  hands-on experience with at least one web framework
• is comfortable doing basic system administration in a Linux environment
• can provide a link to open source contributions on GitHub or other publicly       
  available source code repositories.
