The Lexington Park (PAX) MITRE site has immediate need for an enthusiastic, creative software programmer who is ready to put strong Java and C++ programming and problem-solving skills to work supporting a naval aircraft programs. The work performed here is critically important to national security and future avionics systems architecture. You will be doing software development for avionic systems and subsystems integrated in naval air weapons platforms

This career-enhancing, hands-on opportunity requires software development support for organic software projects as well as maintenance, testing, troubleshooting/debug of hardware and software issues, and peer review of software code.  Naval aviation needs your talent!

Key Functions

  • Collaborate with government as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Member
  • Provide technical expertise/insight to avionic software development and integration
  • Develop and test software for near-term integration in operational platforms
  • Collaborate with government engineers and MITRE Tech Center subject matter experts to plan, develop and deploy future software capabilities in next-generation naval aviation platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) - Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering 
  • Secure software development/Software assurance
  • Programming JAVA and C++
  • Familiarity with multiple Operating Systems:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    • Windows
    • DOS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • DO-178 (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification) familiarity
  • Systems integration experience
  • Socket programming
  • GUI development
  • POSIX experience
  • Python, Bash scripting
  • Cybersecurity, architectural risk analysis
  • Experience with network and systems administration 
  • Mac OSX
  • Software Defined Radio programming, e.g. GNURadio, MATLAB
