Member of a high performance team of optical system analysts and engineers working with space surveillance systems and advanced technologies vital to the Space Situational Awareness mission for DoD.


Student will assist in development and usage of modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) techniques to support: engineering trades for sensor design/employment, model calibration using real-world measurements, algorithmic/model comparison and evaluation, and sensitivity/uncertainty analysis. 


Student will assist in generation of analysis and presentation products used to assess system solutions and to investigate candidate system improvements.

Required education and skills:

  • Successful completion of sophomore year or junior year (3.0 or higher GPA) in a BS degree program in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science or equivalent. 
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment using good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a diligent work ethic.

Desired skills:

  • Familiarity with optical imaging technologies or concepts.
  • Preferred technology experience includes: MATLAB, JAVA, Python, and C++ technology; however, other SW development technologies will be considered.
  • Knowledge in developing Designs of Experiments, data analysis, and MS&A techniques.
  • Systems engineering experience or knowledge.
  • DoD experience.
