Are you an acquisition professional tired of operating inside the box? If yes, are you interested in becoming a part of the MITRE team that reimagines how the government expeditiously procures its goods and services to deliver capability at the speed of mission?  We are seeking change agents specializing in program management and/or contracting to join MITRE’s acquisition innovators. As the operator of seven FFRDCs spanning the entire federal enterprise, MITRE is a trusted advisor influencing and shaping solutions for our Nation’s most critical challenges. We engineer solutions shoulder-to-shoulder with the government’s key stakeholders, transforming innovative ideas to executable mission solutions.

 

We need highly-motivated, adaptive, and self-directed practitioners with experience developing and executing innovative acquisition and contracting strategies, (e.g., Middle Tier of Acquisition, rapid acquisition strategies, challenge based acquisition, and Other Transactions). The Candidate will work directly with the government and will play a key role facilitating success in these areas. The Candidate must have demonstrated experience and be capable of advising the federal government on all aspects of the acquisition lifecycle to implement and adopt innovative acquisition solutions. Preferred Candidates will have demonstrated experience in areas  such as: program management of large and complex programs; tailoring the approach to the defense acquisition lifecycle; research and assessment of strategies to mitigate and/or accept risk; critical thinking to explore the “art of the possible” to identify innovative acquisition solutions, develop and recommend strategies best suited to program unique requirements.


The work will be performed primarily at MITRE’s McLean, VA or Bedford, MA locations with regular work on-site at government locations in and around Washington, DC.

 
Key Functions:
 
  • Advise and support government to define vision, strategic direction, and develop actionable acquisition solutions to achieve the mission.

  • Develop repeatable solution sets with acquisition artifacts to support innovative solutions (e.g., Middle Tier of Acquisition to include requirements documents, statements of work, requests for proposals, source selection plans, risk management plans, test and systems engineering plans, and other documents as necessary).

  • Support analysis and evaluation of traditional DoDI 5000.02 proposals as well as proposals responding to innovation acquisition strategies.

  • Work with the government to shape outcomes to maximize quality, value, and partnerships with key stakeholders.


Required:
  • BS/BA and 8+ years of “hands on” experience with DoD/government acquisition including risk management and source selection.
  • Experience in the aforementioned Key Function areas.
  • Working knowledge and experience with the government acquisition process
  • Ability to translate operational mission needs into acquisition, technical, and programmatic requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in presenting both verbally and in writing.
  • Provide strong leadership, management, and soft skills.
  • Candidate must possess a current Secret clearance to be considered for this position.
Preferred:
  • BS/BA and 10 years related experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing Section 804 strategies, rapid, Agile or accelerated acquisition solutions, tailored DoDI 5000.02 strategies, or Other Transaction strategies and subsequent agreements
  • Experience as a U.S. Government Contracting Officer, Contracting Specialist, or Acquisition Program Manager
  • DAWIA Level III in Acquisition (Contracting or Program Management)
