Do you have Cyber investigative/forensic experience and solid software development skills? Do you want to be on the leading edge of digital forensics? We are seeking creative and driven people that can apply their understanding of device internals, their operational investigative experience, and software development skills to help enable our sponsors to achieve their mission objectives.
 
MITRE seeks technical candidates with a strong computer science or software engineering background to join a research and development team focused on investigating new technologies and building prototypes. The right candidate will enjoy a fast-paced team environment, working on cutting edge technology, and be a self-starter.  The candidate for this requisition would be proficient in at least one of these disciplines: traditional forensics, mobile forensics, reverse engineering, IoT devices, network packet capture and analysis, Cloud forensics.
 
Key Functions:
  • Reverse engineer mobile and embedded devices
  • Develop forensic tools
  • Research vulnerabilities for exploitation purposes
  • Support to outward-reaching sponsors
  • Develop prototypes based on research
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field and 8 years of experience. Candidate demonstrates an ability to apply advanced principles, theories and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Master's degree in a relevant field of study. Candidate understands the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers and is fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span. In addition, candidate is able to define projects or programs greater than themselves.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Secret level clearance
  • Focus on IoT devices
  • Strong familiarity with ARM platforms such as Android and/or iOS
  • Strong familiarity with network forensics, pcap analysis
  • Strong familiarity with Linux
  • Strong familiarity with reverse engineering obfuscated or binary files
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, SQLite)
  • Proficient in prototyping using Python
  • Familiarity with Android internals, Linux kernel, and/or iOS internals
  • Applicable BS degree (preference: computer science/software engineering)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Familiarity with operational digital forensic concepts and objectives.
  • Familiarity with mobile app programming languages and scripting tools. (e.g., Java, Objective-C, Swift, Python, C, C++, Go)
  • Familiarity with Reverse Engineering concepts
  • Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, languages, platforms, etc.
