MITRE's Communications, SIGINT, and PNT department is seeking motivated communications and digital signal processing (DSP) engineers to support and lead wireless communications programs. This is an excellent opportunity to become one of the technical leaders within a strong team of engineers to analyze and solve complex communications problems for our government sponsors.

In this position, you will apply your technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing, applying and evaluating state-of-the-art communication technologies. Typical projects include:

  • Performing detailed modeling and simulation of communications and/or sensor systems;
  • Designing and applying digital signal processing algorithms to communications problems;
  • Providing data processing and theoretical analysis for performance assessments;
  • Providing insight into novel technologies or implementation of existing technologies in novel ways;
  • Developing techniques to detect, locate, and identify signals;
  • Developing secure communications and signal intelligence capabilities;
  • Exploring, developing, and assessing waveform capabilities
  • Assessing communications device limitations and providing recommendations for potential improvements; and
  • Performing laboratory device testing and signal analysis.
 

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate:


Attractive skills include Python, laboratory testing and experimentation, and working with and programming software defined radios (SDRs).

 

Preferred education:

Either:

-       PhD in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer engineering, systems engineering, or related discipline OR

-       MS (or the ability to demonstrate advanced principles, theories, concepts comparable to those obtained with a master's degree) in similar disciplines with at least 6 years related work experience


Minimum education/experience: BS and 5 years related experience
