Do you want to join a technical team performing cutting edge engineering work and developing novel approaches to solve the next generation’s wireless communications and signal processing challenges? MITRE's Communications, SIGINT, and PNT department is seeking electrical engineers and scientists who are interested in developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art communications systems.

MITRE is a not-for-profit company dedicated to solving problems for a safer world without commercial conflicts of interest.

In this position, you will apply and build your technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing, applying and evaluating state-of-the-art communication technologies. Typical projects include:

  • Performing detailed modeling and simulation of communications and/or sensor systems;
  • Designing and applying digital signal processing algorithms to communications problems;
  • Providing data processing and theoretical analysis for performance assessments;
  • Providing insight into novel technologies or implementation of existing technologies in novel ways;
  • Developing techniques to detect, locate, and identify signals;
  • Developing secure communications and signal intelligence capabilities;
  • Exploring, developing, and assessing waveform capabilities; and
  • Assessing communications device limitations and providing recommendations for potential improvements.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong technical signal processing and communications skills within one or more of the following domains: digital signal processing (DSP), detection and estimation, information theory, waveform design, stochastic processes, linear algebra, state-space modeling and linear systems theory, modulation theory, error control coding, propagation, channel equalization, interference cancellation, algorithm development, receiver design, system performance analysis, advanced wireless protocols, satellite communications (SATCOM), and electronic warfare (EW). Attractive skills include expertise with simulation and analysis software tools such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++; technical leadership; and innovation in developing technical solutions. Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, as well as the ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of different backgrounds, are essential. Successful candidates should be ready to build on their existing skills and develop into technical leaders.

Preferred Education:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, mathematics, physics or related discipline with (0-10) years of experience.
Minimum requirement: BS or BA in electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or related discipline.
